How we look after your data
Everything you put into BuildRocket belongs to you: your rates, your suppliers, your jobs and your clients’ details. This page says where it is kept, what happens when you press an AI button, and how to take it with you or delete it. Each line shows the date we last checked it.
Where it is kept
Your records are kept in Sydney
Your account, jobs, rates and client details are kept in our database, which Supabase runs on Amazon servers in Sydney.

The app runs in Sydney too
The servers that build each page for you are in Vercel's Sydney region.

Your files are copied every night to a second store
Every night, we copy every photo, plan, signature and voice note to Amazon Web Services, a separate company from our database provider. Then we read 20 files back at random to check that the copy is whole. A file you delete stays in that copy for 30 days, then it goes.

When you press an AI button
The text that button needs leaves Australia
Some buttons read your plans, write your scope or turn a voice note into text. When you press one, the words, drawings or recording it needs are sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) or OpenAI. We don't use either company's Australian option, so this happens overseas. "Kept in Sydney" is true of our database, not of this trip.

They don't train their AI on it
Both companies' business terms say they don't use what we send them to train their AI.

Anthropic's terms ↗They delete it within 30 days
Anthropic deletes what we send within 30 days. OpenAI keeps a misuse-check log for up to 30 days, and keeps nothing from voice-to-text. Either company may keep something longer if the law requires it or to deal with misuse.

OpenAI's data page ↗AI drafts. You decide.
If you connect your own Claude or ChatGPT to BuildRocket, what it suggests for your business set-up (suppliers, trades, rates, your profile) waits under Your AI → Updates until you accept it. It can change a job's scope or Costing only if you switch that on, and only the account owner can. Once it is on, your AI can change a job without asking you again: BuildRocket writes out each change for it to read back to you, but cannot hear your yes. Every change is recorded before it is made, marked "by your AI", with Undo — and a change that cannot be recorded is not made.

About the connector →It's yours: take it or delete it
Take it with you
Your account page has a section called "Your data stored here". It lists every record we keep for you, each with a Download beside it. The files are plain text that any person or AI can read, and the big lists also come as a spreadsheet. You're never locked in.

Your data stored here →Delete it
You can delete your account yourself, any time. Deleted files stay in the nightly copy for 30 days, then they go.

Delete your account →How we keep this page true
Each line above shows the date we last checked it, and we re-check every month. Once a line is more than 5 weeks old, it reads “being re-checked”. A line that fails its check comes off this page until it’s fixed.
